We have been informed that the Khabouris is being sold at auction on the 29th of June by Sotheby's and, in an email we received from Sotheby's they informed us that the Manuscript could, "disappear from the public eye."
We are working diligently to set up a Living Laboratory at HeartLand and hope to rescue the Khabouris from being lost. If you feel inclined to donate to assist us in bidding on the Manuscript, please click the link at the bottom of this page. If the purchase is successful, you will be acknowledged for your help. If not, any donation you make will be returned if you wish, or will be used to fund the ongoing research and startup of the Khabouris Laboratory at HeartLand. Please click the link at the bottom of this page to help.

An ancient Aramaic New Testament codex that has been carbon-dated to be between 1040 and 1090 AD and is noted as a handwritten duplicate of an original canon written as early as 165 AD. If continuing research corroborates this, the Khabouris codex would be the oldest known copy of the New Testament. The Khabouris' colophon bears the seal and signature of the Bishop at the Church at Nineveh, an erstwhile capital of the Assyrian Empire that is the present-day Iraqi city of Mosul.
The Khabouris Manuscript was on display for public view as an exhibit in the Queensborough Community College Art Gallery in Bayside, New York, while conservation work continued. The Khabouris Manuscript has been removed from QC (without our prior knowledge) and has been taken to London and is up for auction by Sotheby's on June 29, 2007.

Divided Rights To Khabouris Stewardship Contract (pdf format) to view the original Khabouris Manuscript Codex Irrevocable Stewardship Contract in full. (Note: Daniel MacDougald Jr was Trustee of the Khabouris and Fr. Gerrit Crawford was the initial Steward of this Stewardship on behalf of the Khabouris Foundation. In August 2001, the Archbishop of the International Orthodox Christian Institute appointed fr. michael ryce as successor to Fr. Crawford, upon his retirement.)
To date, the costs of our end of the Khabouris Manuscript project have been born by HeartLand. Other team members have carried financial costs as well, i.e. for high resolution images (Great work Eric), for the conservation work (Thanks Fr. Faustino) and for the displaying at QC, and more. The value of this document is beyond monetary, it is an important historic relic to our faith, the teaching contained within the Manuscript can and will change the world. We have repeatedly requested to be given a price that is desired by the current Trustees in order to acquire the Manuscript, we would attempt to raise the desired monies. We were given no price and informed that we would have to bid at Sotheby's auction as any other potental buyer. We intend to do all we possibly can to uphold our commitment to the sacred trust given us toward this work. Whether we can obtain the actual Manuscript or just continue to uphold the rights given us in the Stewardship, please support HeartLand's continued work - click the donation button below.
